Venture Interview 2011 Updates

Greetings to the Venture Applicants of 2011!

Here are the latest updates for the Venture Interview. The Venture Adult Leaders Council has decided to postpone the interview to another date due to the absence of certain leaders that are required to be present for the interview. Below are the details for the Venture Interview:

Date: 27th November 2010
Venue: St. Gabriel's Secondary School (Fall in outside the Scout Den)
Time: To arrive school at 0800hrs. Interview commences at 0830hrs
Attire: Full Scout uniform with head dress/beret
Items to bring: Certificates/Portfolio, civilian clothings if you want and stationaries.

Meanwhile, during this period while you guys are waiting for the Venture Interview to commence on the 27th of November, I would like Nathan, who will be the IC for your batch, to contact VSL Gary immediately as he has a task for your batch (that includes those who are not keen to join the Venture Unit).

Late comers for the interview will not be entertained. Any applicants that have missing items or are not in the appropriate attire will be sent home and deem as failed for the interview.

More updates will be posted up on the blog should there be any changes. Good luck for your preparation.

Updates on JOTI/JOTA 2010

Greetings Scouts,
I regret to inform you that this year, the Singapore Scout Association will not be holding their JOTI event at Games Haven due to unforeseen circumstances. However, for those who wish to participate, you may do so by downloading Skype. The event will still take place world wide and the Singapore Scout Association will still be supporting the event by producing the badges and certificates.

For those who want the badges and certificates, you have to participate the JOTI at your own time at home. Please inform PL Nathan if you still want to participate in the event. You have to download the software and use it at home. After you guys have finished using the software, I would you guys to do a short write up on a few points about the JOTI before being awarded the JOTI badges and certificates. Some of these points are as follows:

1. Scouts that you have made friends with (Country, position in Scouting, understanding about their programme/activities.)
2. Other topics discussed or conversed.

If there are other relevant points that you would like to include, please feel free to do so. If you want to get the badge and the certificate, you have to write it well. Total word count is less than 100 words. If no effort is put in place, I will not award the badge and the certificates. The JOTI will commence on Saturday, 16/10/2010 to Sunday, 17/10/2010. Do take this opportunity to meet new friends from abroad because Scouting is not about making friends from Singapore, but to meet new people from abroad as well. If you have any problems, do feel free to contact me via my mobile. Thank you.

World JOTI/JOTA 2010

Hello Scouts, there is an upcoming event called JOTI/JOTA 2010. For those who do not know what it is, it is called Jamboree on the Internet/Jamboree on the Air. This event is held annually all over the world to foster friendships through a free way using the internet. Some of the gadgets/applications used to meet Scouts from all over the World would be Skype, IRC, etc. Jamboree on the Air on the other hand, uses radio amateur tapping devices to tap in into radio waves to converse with Scouts all over the World. This event is fully supported by WOSM (World Organisation of the Scout Movement).

The JOTI 2010 will be held on the 16 and 17 of October 2010. Venue is at Games Haven and it is to be confirmed. We will be attending only on the 16th of October. On the 17th, if you guys want to meet more friends you can continue your participation on the event at home. You just have to download the application.

For this event, a badge and certificate will be awarded to participants for this event. I urge all of you to attend as it will be a wonderful experience for everyone. The beauty of Scouting is to promote friendship not only local, but overseas as well. More updates will be posted here on the blog. More details can be found on this link so as to give you a better understanding about the upcoming event. Thank you.
