Hong Kong Heritage Trail 2011

Greetings Scouts,

As the trip is getting closer, I would require all those who are attending the Hong Kong Trip to do some preparation (homework) before the trip.

Do some read up on Scouting history (both international and local). You can find the information online. During the trip, we will have some quiz about Scouting in patrol levels. Some of the questions that I will asking would be as follows:

a. What is the full name of our founder of the Scout movement?
b. Who was the father of Scouting in Singapore?
c. Where was the first World Jamboree held?
d. Which are the countries do not have Scouting in their country?
e. Name me the current Scout districts active in Singapore.

These are some examples that will be asked during the quiz. Please do some read up about it. The purpose for doing this read up is to equip you with the necessary knowledge as you are guys are wearing the World Scout badge. Definitely, you need to have some foundation and if you don't know anything about Scouting, something is definitely wrong!

Do take some time to read up about it. Remember, our Scout motto is "Be Prepared". Please do your homework as it is very important for your personal upbringing. Thank you.

Yours in Scouting,
Benjamin Sho

Scouts Learning Trip to Hong Kong

Dear all,

as of today, the tour agency has paid the deposit for the air tickets and has been trying hard to secure BP International Hotel, which is of utmost concern to all of us.

However, it is not within our power to do anything further as the teachers and old boys have settled the administrative procedures and itinerary respectively.

Nevertheless, i will still give out the information form (Details of Parents' Briefing on 5 Nov 9am) to the Scouts tomorrow after assembly. Fingers-crossed, we sincerely hope that the agency will settle the lodging within these few days. Otherwise, it will be devastating to see all our efforts wasted.

Do be assured that your cheques are with me and i will only make payment only after the hotel accomodation is confirmed.

Warm regards,
Mr. Lincoln Chan

54th Jamboree on the Air & 15th Jamboree on the Internet

Dear all,

Had no time to brief you all as exams have been ongoing for the past two weeks.
Nevertheless, do read up on the information and actively participate!

Message from Dr Mohd Effendy Bin Rajab as follows:

The annual JOTA-JOTI is here again! This year’s theme will revolve around “Peace, Environment and Natural Disasters”. Having a live conversation with a fellow Scout in some other place in the world gives the same excitement as having a normal Jamboree on the land without the normal expenses. Just like a normal Jamboree, the JOTA-JOTI is also an event when Scouts can share their experiences and exchange their ideas.

This year, the World Organisation of the Scout Movement will be hosting the 54th Jamboree on the Air & the 15th Jamboree on the Internet from 15 to 16 October 2011. WOSM has also announced that Astronaut and Scout Master Mike Fossum is planning to participate in JOTA from the International Space Station!

You can obtain more information (including whether he will be passing by near Singapore) at: http://www.scout.org/en/information_events/news/2011/jota_from_space In view of the heavy manpower resources our Scouts have will put into training for the National Patrol Camp and the forthcoming End of Year examinations, we are encouraging Scouts to participate in this event in the comfort of their own homes. More information about the event including the meaning of this year’s theme can be found at: http://www.scout.org/en/information_events/news/2011/jota_joti_2011. In addition, new participants may get some basic information at:http://www.scout.org/en/information_events/events/joti/jota_joti_for_newbies.

Scouts Learning Trip to Hong Kong

Dear Parents,

I will be disseminating the edusave forms within the next few days, and will be collecting the forms, together with the cheque. Will attach an information form for your perusal.

My sincere apologies for the collection of money as i will need to proceed with the payment a month before the actual trip.

Appreciate your kind understanding as there is a great amount of planning and admin to be worked out on our part. At the end of the day, it is all for our Scouts.

Warm regards,
Mr. Lincoln Chan
