World JOTI/JOTA 2012

Dear Scouts,

It is that time of the year again, where we are having the World JOTI/JOTA!

JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet)/JOTA (Jamboree on the Air) is the cheapest or I would say a free form of making Scout friends from abroad! This is an opportunity where you can get to meet Scouts from overseas to understand their culture, scout movement and exchange contacts!

To participate in the JOTI, all you need to have is your own computer! From there, just follow this link:
http://www.joti.org/en/index.html

Explore and discover what JOTI is and also, there are some activities to choose from. Most importantly, make sure you create your validation card to show to your friends that you have communicated with a Scout abroad and made new friends! Keep all the validation cards and you can post it on Facebook too!

JOTI comes in many forms of communications such as Skype, MIRC, ICQ, MSN, Facebook etc. It is just endless!

World JOTI is celebrated all over the world and it will from 20/10 - 21/10. Have a fun time!!

Concerns about using 1.5 litre Sprite bottles

Dear all,

a parent has shared her concerns about the use of Sprite bottles during training. http://www.livestrong.com/article/166500-side-effects-and-dangers-of-refilling-plastic-bottles/

And to err on the side of caution, we will allow Scouts to bring their own water bottles from now on. A firm reminder to label your water bottles so that retrieval is possible if you misplace them.

The parent has also kindly recommended another type of water bottle for safe usage and consumption. For your perusal.
http://www.tupperware.com.my/ecobytupperware/products_d.php

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that Scouts observe well their own personal hygiene. We, as parents and teachers, will continue to advise and "nag" at the recalcitrants. The best bottles will do no good if they do not clean and wash their own water bottles frequently.

Finally, many thanks to Ms Kierra Lynn for her input.

Working together with you,
Mr. Lincoln Chan (on behalf of all Scout teachers and Adult Leaders)

All teachersAnnual Training Camp

In the event that your family has booked an overseas trip prior to this date, you are to hand in a parent's letter to excuse you from any training/camp.

Otherwise, i appeal to all parents for your support in trying your best to accomodate to the dates (especially the camp) as the teachers and adult leaders will be putting in lots of efforts to organise activities that will level up the independence of your child/ward and unity among the Scouts. All activities will cease after 24 Nov and we wish everyone a well-deserved break after the camp.

Thank you very much.

Warm regards,
Mr. Lincoln Chan
