Orienteering Specialist is Recruiting
Hello!
The Orienteering Specialists is a team that specializes in orienteering which is the sport of running cross-country/rough terrain with a map and compass. Sort of like path-finding.
But in organized orienteering, there are many categories but they all require u to get from one place to another, either as a race an/or a "treasure" hunt.
Line Orienteering - which is basically sketching your surroundings as u move along a straight line/path.
Score Orienteering - which is searching for specific spots/places using Grid Map Reference (MGR) much like a treasure hunt.
Plane Map-sketching - sketch a map of a surrounding area as accurately as possible.
And finally even orienteering, like you guessed it, on water(using kayaks... we cant walk on water lol).
The trainings would at most be once a month, so it doesn't take up too much of your time unlike the other specialist groups which require you to meet once a week or more.
Anyway, if you become a member, u will get the Explorer proficiency badge, AND the Orienteering Specialist Cord which is worn on the right shoulder.
And if we go for competitions, this will help you a lot in accumulating CCA Points which will help you get into the JC/Poly of your choice.
I will be coming down after my venture training.
Your Brother Scout/Gabrielite,
SFV Daren Lau
