Meeting on the 2nd July & campfire on the 3/7

Greetings,

There will be a Scout meeting on the 2/7 (Friday). The duty patrol will be Dove. Do remember to bring your water bottles. Failure to bring any of the necessary items below will result to punishment. The flagpole must be up by 1400hrs.

There will also be a campfire on the 3/7 ( Saturday). It would be held at Manjusri Secondary School. We would be meeting at the HDB flat opposite school at 1700hrs. Do not be late and inform your PL if you are going there directly on your own. You are encouraged to come as it will be a time of fun and bonding not only within our unit, but with other Scout and Guides units.

Campfire on 25/6 ( Friday)

Greetings,

There would be a campfire on the 25/6( Friday) at Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School. Please meet at 1700hrs at the block opposite St Gabriel's Secondary School. There would not be any Scout meetings until school reopens unless if you are in any specialist or First Class Standard.

Campfire 2010 Preparations

Dear All,

I sincerely apologize for the mis-communication that occurred on the first preparation meeting on Saturday, 29th May.

Mr Lincoln Chan has informed me that there is no meeting for Monday the 31st of May and hence, no need to have a meeting on Tuesday, 1st June. PLs and APLs, please inform your juniors of the changes just in case they do not check the blogs.

Still, the design teams working under Venture Joshua are to take note that they still need to be down in school on Tuesday to begin your work on the Souvenirs.

Fire IC Dominic, you will also need to be present to start on your firewood. Please find at least four helpers apart from your assistant, since the work is very intensive. Further please report to Venture Joshua to supervise for this meeting.

Finally, to all EXCO members, the EXCO meeting will still occur as discussed on Saturday, although it will have to take place at 3pm (Venue is to be confirmed) since that is the only time when any supervisors are free to oversee the meeting.

I hope to see you all and I wish you the strength to pull through your given tasks.

SANA Badge project & Event - Scout Rally

Please be reminded to complete the transfer agent task of the badge scheme by the end of April, preferably earlier, to avoid any unnecessary troubles.

The transfer agent task, of passing the anti-drug knowledge to friends or family members, is important towards attaining your SANA national campaign badge as it is deemed as a requirement by SANA to pass your badge scheme.

Missing Shoebag

Dear all,

APL Darren Chong is currently looking for his shoebag wwhich contains his school shoes. It is black in colour and has a JP Morgan logo on it. Combined Uniformed Groups Passing Out Parade

Dear all, do note our final event for 1st Semester:

"Dear all, please note that there will be a combined uniformed groups training for Sec 4 and 5 cadets for Passing Out Parade this Thursday morning at 7.20 am at parade square. They are to fall in in half uniform.

Also all sec 1 to 5 cadets will be involved in the rehearsal and parade on Fri. They are to fall in in full uniform at 3pm at parade square. Please provide unit flag. You can invite your instructors or unit leaders to the event. All staff are invited to view actual parade this fri at 5pm."

Meeting on 16/4 and Speech Day reminder

Dear Scouts,

There will be a Scout meeting on the 16/4( Friday). On that day before the meeting starts, please have your lunch and place your belongings in 5N1 classroom latest 1350hrs. The duty patrol for that meeting would be Dove.

Fall-in:

Attire- Full uniform

Time- 1400hrs.

Things to bring:

3. PT kit (CRUX shirt for sec2 and above)
4. Scout record book

For the sec2s and above, there would be a Speech Day rehearsal on 15/4 (Thursday). It is compulsory and the only valid excuse is M.C or tuition. Attire would be half uniform with blue PE shirt.Fall in outside the Scout Den at 1530hrs.

The Scout meeting on the 16/4 would be the last meeting before SA1. Therefore, please study hard for your SA1 and be prepared always.

Badges

Dear Scouts,

The Frank Cooper Sands (Gold) Badge is now available!
Scouts who have attained 75% attendance and above, throughout 2009 are eligible to sew on this badge. Please check with our scout teachers for your attendance rate last year.

Take note, in order to earn CCA points each year, an attendance rate of 75% and above, has to be reached.
Thus, every Friday and Saturday scout meetings you attend contribute to your attendance rate. (Including training camps)


Additional events/activities like Courses, Campfires, Combined activity, District Amazing Race, other Scout Events or National Events like YOG 2010 (Youth Olympic Games), NDP 2010 (National Day Parade), SYF (Singapore Youth Festival), plays a tremendous part in your NYAA (National Youth Achievement Award) or CIP (Community Involvement Program) hours.

To Secondary Ones & Scouts who just joined or switched patrols,
the patrol badges are available for you to sew on.
Please collect it by this coming Friday's scout meeting from your individual Patrol Leaders/Assistant Patrol Leader.

For your information, Scout Leader Shaun will be your examiner for Proficiency badge tests.
These badges are for your interest & pursuit, and it will showcase how expertise you are, in a specific daily-life skill.

Before you receive a proficiency badge, proof of Scout Leader's signature on your scout record book is required.
Evidence of Job Week earning is also required for bumblebee badge/upgrade.
Signature on your scout record book is required for previous year's donation draw earnings.

District Amazing Race & 10th April meeting.

For scouts who registered for the District Amazing Race here are some of the details,

1) To be disciplined during the event and at all times. (There will be 400+ Participants, out of which 20% are made up of Scouts & Ventures.)
2) To conduct a Research on public transportations in the area of Katong, Pasir Ris & Tampines. (For ease in traversing throughout the Eastern areas of Singapore.)
3) To take some spare time to study on the various aspects of Scouting.
4) To follow the Scout Promise & Law closely (It is the key to success in this event)
5) To be steadfast and focused in the event.
6) To be Courteous to others

Last but not least... Have fun & enjoy the event! Make some friends from other units if possible.

2009 Frank Cooper Sands

Dear all,
I am pleased to announce that our Scout Troop and Venture Unit have both achieved the GOLD awards for 2009. This is the 3rd consecutive Gold for our Ventures and the 1st for our Scouts in recent memory. Kudos to all the teachers, adult leaders, parents and of course our ventures and scouts who have made all these possible. Nonetheless, awards are purely recognition of efforts and we will continue to remain true to our values in moulding the characters of our Ventures and Scouts and to guide them to become better persons. Meeting on the 26/3 and the remaining dates of scout meetings before SA1

Greetings,

1)There would be an informal meeting on the 26/3 ( Friday), which means that there would not be an opening ceremony. However, all Scouts are required to bring their full uniform. On that meeting, a commissioner would be coming down to see how AVSL Ben Sho conducts the Ventures' meeting. Although the main focus would be on the Ventures, the Scout unit should maintain high discipline and also be respectful towards the commissioner.

Fall in attire: Half uniform
Fall-in time: 1350hrs
Venue: 5N1 classroom*,

* the venue is not confirmed

On the meeting, refrain from hanging or leaving any of your belongings (e.g. bags, uniform) beside the Scout den.

For the Sec1s, do take note that the World Scout Badge test will be conducted on the 26/3 meeting. Please study the notes given during OC as it will be tested. For those who have not pay PL Zhixin $18.50, please bring exact change.

For the Sec2s and above, there would be a Speech Day rehearsal. It is compulsory to all Sec2 and above Scouts. the only excuse would be injuries or feeling unwell.

Also, for those who have not submitted their job week money & cards, kindly bring them during the meeting.

2) The remaining dates for Scout meetings before SA1 are listed below:
- 26March
- 9 April
- 10April
- 16April

Do take note that 2nd April is a public holiday (Good Friday), therefore there would not be any scout meeting on that day. This does not include extra meetings (campfire committee meetings, campfires, specialist trainings, etc).

3) For those Scouts attending Earth Hour, meet PL Nathan at the entrance of Raffles City which links to City Hall MRT station at 1800hrs on 27/3(Saturday). Please do not be late.

4)There would be a campfire organised by Zhonghua Secondary School on the 27/3 (Saturday). Meet at the void deck opposite school at 1730hrs. Attendance is compulsory unless you have valid reasons.

Summary of activities for March Holidays

Dear all,

1. To follow up on PL Kevin's post, not all scouts are involved in both the SANA and water conservation courses. The list of participants for both courses can be found under this link. http://www.mediafire.com/?gnonqjmlmgu

2. Job Week will be conducted all over Singapore from 13-20 March. However i would suggest that the Scouts do their best to achieve their target earlier so that it will not be too taxing on them. At the end of the day, Job Week is to inculcate in Scouts the dignity of labour and the value of honest work. The concept of service before self; service to the community and the nation is an important aspect and an integral part of the Scout Training.

3. Finally on Sat (20/3), approximately 20 scouts will be going to our first campfire this year at St Margaret's Secondary where they get to mingle and interact with scouts n guides from other schools. The campfire will end latest by 930pm. There will be a number of campfires every year, including our own. Thus we will rotate the scouts such that all of them will have the opportunity to go through the night of joy and fun.

4. Mr. Zhang Huasheng will be collecting the Job Week cards and money on Saturday (20/3) 9am-10am. All scouts are to report to the scout den by 9am. Reason for not collecting it after school reopens is because we would not want the scouts to hold onto the money from morning till afternoon on that particular Friday. As it may involve hundreds of dollars, it is best for us to consolidate the money as soon as possible.
