24/4 Scout Meeting

Hello!

There will be a meeting on the 24th April 2009.

This meeting will be the final meeting before exams.

Attendance will be marked.

Those who did not come for he previous few meetings, please bring you Medical Certificate or a Parent's Letter stating the reason for your absence.

Those who do not produce an M.C. or letter, your reason will be marked as invalid in the attendance booklet.

50th Annual Campfire - Perpetuus Symphonia

Dear Scouts and parents,

the date for our 50th Annual Campfire, themed Perpetuus Symphonia, has been confirmed. It will be held on 12 June 2009, Friday. The campfire training and preparation dates will be out within the next 2 weeks and further information will be provided by then.
Please keep yourselves available from the end of SA1 till the 13th of June (i.e. refrain from going overseas for holiday / travel, going for courses / external enrichments as it will be an extremely important preparation phase).

do note that there will be a final rehearsal before Speech Day on Tuesday(14/4) at 3pm.

For people who did not attend Thursday(9/4) morning's training, you are to produce an MC/Letter BY Friday.


For people who have been absent for 2 weeks without an MC or Letter, please produce your MC or Letter BY this Friday or a warning letter will be sent. Persistent absence or indiscipline will result in the removal of your scout status from the Unit.

All scouts who are participating in the Speech Day, please note that the only speech day rehearsal this week is on WEDNESDAY, 4pm.
Attendance is COMPULSORY regardless of school remedials.
Attire: Half Uniform.

Submission of Job Week Cards 2009

Dear Scouts and Ventures,

the deadline for submission of Job Week to HQ is this Friday.

1. For Scouts who have not handed in, do so immediately by returning your Job Week Cards and money to PL David Tan (3E2). You are to take the initiative to get to them personally within these few days.

2. For Ventures, i believe you guys are mature enough to effectively liase with Gershon.

All cards and money must reach Mr. Zhang Huasheng by this week. Finally, thank you for your hard work and effort during Job Week. CIP hours will be awarded to those who have reached or raised a reasonable number of jobs or money respectively.

NDP 2009

Those who are interested to participate in this year's NDP Scout Contingent are to inform me ASAP. Please note that all trainings are conducted by HQ volunteers/staff as well as officers from the SAF.


NDP Training schedule

Every Saturday, 0900hours - 1300hours
(Dismissal time may be extended or reduced without prior notice)
(Fall-in time may change)

Requirements (logistics & attire)

Full Scout Uniform including leather/marching boots (polished)
Acceptable hair cut/style (school standard)
Water bottle (minimum 500ml)


By participating you will also be attending the Foot Drills course. And you will also receive:
-Certificate of Participation
-Event Badge
-CCA pts
-Complimentary uniform
-Foot Drills badge (if you pass the test)
-Frank Cooper Sands points for the Unit

Truancy from CCA

Dear Scouters,

It has come to my attention that the a number of scouts have not been fulfilling the attendance requirements for the months of Jan and Feb. As such, you are warned that you will be awarded a "Fair" conduct grade in your Result Slips if you do not achieve the 75% attendance requirement. Furthermore, you will not earn the CCA points for the year.

I consider truancy a very serious offence and further disciplinary action will be taken against you if the situation continues. In the event that you have valid reasons for your absence, you will come to see me to justify your case lastest by this Friday 13th March.

National Day Parade 2009

Greetings,


The Southern Cross Scout Unit have been invited to participate the National Day Parade 2009 contingent. Scouts who wish to volunteer are to inform me by tomorrow latest, 2100 hours. CCA points will be awarded, meals are provided during the rehearsals, you can use this for NYAA (CIP). Here are some of the things you will receive if you participate - Foot Drills Badge & Certificate, goody bag, a certificate of participation.

Participating also contributes to the points we earn for the Frank Cooper Sands Award (FCS Award).

Requirements (HQ)
1) Must be physically and medically fit.
2) Must be able to commit 100% and attend at all weekly training and rehearsals regularly held on Saturdays.
3) Candidates will go through a selection process and the Singapore Scouts Association reserves the right to have the final decision.

The rehearsals will be very demanding for it can stretch up to 12 hours. Sec 1s who wish to join will need ''remedial lessons'' on how to march PROPERLY.
