Updates

Hello!


For the poster that has to be done for the Scouting for Food event,
here are some details that should be included in the poster:

  • Why there's a need to help the needy, lower income families and the elderlies.
  • Why did they manage to get into this category of lower income families
  • -> what type of lower income families (Gambler, Single Parents, Cannot find jobs etc.)
  • How can we go about to help such people
  • -> Why as scouts, are we doing such charity drive.
Feel free to add anymore relevant points into the poster.
Also please take note that this few points should be included into the poster write up for the poster.

Those who have not handed up your Scouting For Food Consent forms please hand them up by this Friday latest.


For the Venture Interview this Saturday, all those who wish to enter the Venture Unit are to fall in at 0800 hours sharp outside the Scout den. The interview will commence at 0830 sharp.
Late comers will not be entertained.

Lastly, there will be a meeting on Friday (30/10). Bring you full uniform, P.T. Kit and water bottles(compulsory).

Important Update.

Greetings Scouts!

There will be a few important events coming up.
1) Scouting for Food. [14th November 2009]
2) Venture Interview Briefing [23rd October 2009], For Sec3s and Sec4 non-ventures only.
3) Venture Interview [31st October 2009]

Scouting for Food

To prepare for this event, the following patrols will have to work together.

Dove and Eagle.
Kingfisher and Woodstock.
Owl and Swift.

Each of the 3 groups have to do a poster consisting of:
1)Why there is a need to help the needy, lower income families, and the elderly in Singapore.
2)A write up on what we can do to help out the society in Singapore
3)What we can collect from the neighbourhood. e.g. Dried/Canned food, old clothes, toys, electrical appliances.

Every patrol will have to meet up 1 week before the event to give out flyers and inform the residents of the area.

More information will be posted on the blog soon.


Venture Interview Briefing & Venture Interview

To all secondary 3 and 4 scouts who are not in Ventures. Please do note that there will be a briefing session on the 23rd of october at 2.30pm.
Please make yourself free on that day.

Those who do not register on the 23rd of october without a valid reason will be rejected from the Venture Interview

Please reach the classroom that will be booked by 2pm and have your lunch.
Be in your Full Uniform.

The Venture Interview itself will be on the 31st of October. Time and Venue will be given as soon as possible.

First Aid Course

Greetings!

Please be reminded that there will be a First Aid Course on the 8,9 and 10 of September(Tues, Wed and Thurs)
Meet opposite school at 0800 hrs and Full uniform on Tuesday(8/9) and Half uniform on the subsequent days.
We will be bringing you to the course via public transport so please bring your ex-link cards.
Bring a pen and a notebook for the course to take down any notes.

Cycling Expedition

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please be informed that there are some things that your son/ward has to take note of before the commencement of the cycling expedition. He has to bring some important items for the expedition as well as to know some rules before going for the Unit Cycling Expedition. They will be briefed again in school before the commencement of the activity. Here are some of the pointers to take note of:


1. Bring 1.5L water bottle filled with water.
2. Cutlery
3. Poncho
4. Bring personal medications. (E.g. Inhalers for asthmatic patients)
5. Bring Scarf and Woggle.
6. Extra clothes and towel.
7. Manila ropes or nylon ropes (borrow from Scout den and to be returned after use)
8. Personal items (Wallets and handphone)
9. No bringing of hand-held games (E.g. PSP, Gameboy, Nintendo DS etc.)
10. At all times, follow instructions from Leaders. Disciplinary actions will be taken
on individuals that do not cooperate and will be sent home.
11. Water proof all items in Zip Lock bag in case of wet weather while cycling.
12. To prevent injury due to cumbersome attire and equipment, avoid wearing baggy outfit and loose articles like bracelets to avoid entanglement.
13. To prevent road accidents due to human error, cycle in a single file on the pavement whenever possible abreast with traffic and no horseplaying. Also, there shall be no tailgating and the gap between cyclists should be two bicycle lengths at the minimal. Beware of people and objects on the road/pavement when cycling to prevent falls and injuries.

Meeting Update

Due to the Happy Heels Healthy Hearts walk on the 28th Aug 2009, we will not be able to have Scout meeting on that day.
However, Friday's meeting have been postponed to Saturday 29th Aug 2009.
We will be having CIP in the afternoon from 1330-1800 hrs. It will be in the Serangoon North area. Attendance is compulsory.
Those who are unable to make it please approach Ms Siti.
Those who do not turn up and approach Ms Siti, your attendance will be marked as absent.

Jamboree On The Air/Internet Update

Hi Scouts,

This are the details of JOTI and JOTA:

Venue: Zhong Hua Secondary School
Time: 1500hrs-1700hrs
Date: 1st August 2009
Meeting Venue: St Gabriel's Secondary School
Meeting Time: 1400hrs

Both JOTI and JOTA will be on the same day(Saturday).
Those who have given their names for Sunday, you will not be applicable to go.

After JOTI and JOTA, we will be going for Mayflower Guides campfire "Horror".
